Cancer & Evolution Mini-workshop (Bordeaux-Bristol-Paris)

This is a small and closed workshop, associating philosophers and biologists from Bordeaux, Bristol and Paris, all interested in central conceptual issues in cancer research, especially about evolutionary approaches to cancer.

Each speaker will have 45 minutes, including Q&As, so each speaker will decide how much time they want to keep for Q&As.

2-2:45: Samir Okasha (Univ. of Bristol, UK): Cancer, multilevel selection and atavism

 

2:45-3:30: Bertrand Daignan-Fornier (IBGC, CNRS & Univ. Bordeaux, France): Yeast as a model for understanding multicellularity, development, and cancer

 

3:30-3:45: Break

 

3:45-4:30: Thomas Pradeu (ImmunoConcept, CNRS & Univ. Bordeaux, France): Is cancer intrinsic to multicellularity?

 

4:30-5:15: Lucie Laplane (IHPST & Gustave Roussy, France) & Antoine Jourdain (Gustave Roussy, France): Clonal evolution: what is a clone?

 

5:15-5:30: Conclusion of the workshop and future perspectives.
